iPad Lending Policy
Library Board approved in 2022.
The Melrose Park Public Library makes Apple IPads available for checkout to Melrose Park Public Library Card holders in good standing in order to meet educational needs. IPads are made available for in-library use to all Public Library card holders (or those with a valid ID). IPads are provided according to availability.
iPad Checkout:
The following rules and regulations apply:
- iPads may be borrowed and checked out by valid MPPL card holders ages 18 and older.
- The loan period is 3 weeks.
- An iPad is available for auto-renewal (2 days before the due date) up to 2 times if there are no holds.
- iPads must be returned in-person at the Circulation Desk—do not return via the Bookdrop.
- If the iPad is not returned on time, it will be disabled.
- Users who have on three separate occasions returned the iPads late may lose their iPad borrowing privileges.
- Users assume full responsibility for the replacement cost ($300) in the event that the iPad is lost, stolen, damaged, or never returned.
- The power adapter, charging cable, and iPad carrying case must be returned in good condition, or a replacement/repair charge may be assessed.
iPad In-Library Use:
- iPads can be checked out for in-Library use by valid MPPPL cardholders 18 and older.
- Non MPPL cardholders or patrons with a valid ID ages 18 and older, can check out an iPad for In-Library use. Non MPPL cardholders are required to leave a photo ID at the Circulation Desk until the iPad is returned.
- In-Library users assume full responsibility for the replacement cost ($300) in the event that the iPad is lost, stolen, damaged, or never returned.
