Library News

The MPPL was awarded an “On the Road to Recovery” Grant to purchase acrylic barriers and study carrels. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library, a Department of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the U.S. Institute of Museum & Library Services, under the provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA).

Library Hours

MPPL is open on Saturdays from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Closed on the last Saturday of each month.

Check out our newest database: Ancestry Library. Access census, vitals, military, and immigration records to find family history. Ancestry Library is an in-library only resource.

Kiddieland Sign

The iconic Kiddieland lighted sign originally located on the corner of North and First Avenues has a new home at the Melrose Park Public Library parking lot. Come check out the sign and our Kiddieland archival collection!

Maywood Park Arch Sign

The Maywood Park Arch sign is now located at the Melrose Park Public Library parking lot. Stop by to see the sign and our Maywood Park Racetrack archival collection!

The restored Airmail mural is located in the Adult Services department.  Click here to learn more about the history of the mural and other artwork. Visit the library to view Airmail on display and other artwork!

The Melrose Park Public Library special collections include digital and physical materials related to the history of Melrose Park, historical newspapers, mail-order homes, and the Veteran’s History Project. All are welcome to explore our special collection in person and online!
